Budget Discussions, Again!!!

The “B” Word — “Budget”

The “b” word has reared its head again in our house.  My husband and I started discussing ways to start paying off our little debts early.  Our idea of budgeting was different than what budgeting actually is.  We always had a calendar with all the payments and their due dates written on it.  That’s not really what a budget is though.

You Need a Budget!!!

I found this site, You Need a Budget and subscribed to their 10 free lessons.  I just couldn’t bring myself to go ahead and order the software yet.  My thought was that we will go through the 10 lessons and see how this affects our thinking on the budget subject.

What we have learned so far!!!

It’s something we already knew but it was re-enforced with this series.  The first lesson asked us to make a list of what we wanted to accomplish with our money.

Our list was as follows:

  1. Tithe to God.
  2. Bless others.
  3. Pay off our bills.
  4. Save for retirement.
  5. Save for a special trip.
  6. Have money in the bank so that we did not live from paycheck to paycheck.

What would be on your list?

Please comment and let us know what would be on your list?

Till next time,

Jennifer
