Lessons Learned From Christmas 2008

Christmas tree

Christmas 2008 is done and over.  The Christmas decorations are coming down.  The leftovers in the fridge are being thrown away.  In thinking back to just a few days ago, there are some lessons that I learned from our family Christmas this year.   These lessons are not in any particular order.

 I learned that:

  1. We don’t need turkey at Christmas, too.
  2. We don’t need a lot of desserts.
  3. The Christmas tree looks even more beautiful with the presents wrapped in coordinating Christmas wrap.
  4. We will definitely use the paper plates and cups.  No more washing dishes (don’t have a dishwasher) while company is here.
  5. Personal gifts will be bought.  No more hearing the grandkids say…”See I told you it would be money!”

 Next year I will:

  1. Have the money saved up for Christmas presents before September.
  2. Start Christmas shopping around the first of October.
  3. Not ask what everyone wants.  I will be spontaneous in gift giving.
  4. Have a simple menu for Christmas lunch.
  5. Cook all that can be cooked the day before so that I will only have to warm up the food the next day.
  6. Wrap the presents before Christmas Eve.
  7. Make the handmade tags before Christmas Eve.
  8. Not be spastic on Christmas Day.
