Christmas 2008 is done and over. The Christmas decorations are coming down. The leftovers in the fridge are being thrown away. In thinking back to just a few days ago, there are some lessons that I learned from our family Christmas this year. These lessons are not in any particular order.
I learned that:
- We don’t need turkey at Christmas, too.
- We don’t need a lot of desserts.
- The Christmas tree looks even more beautiful with the presents wrapped in coordinating Christmas wrap.
- We will definitely use the paper plates and cups. No more washing dishes (don’t have a dishwasher) while company is here.
- Personal gifts will be bought. No more hearing the grandkids say…”See I told you it would be money!”
Next year I will:
- Have the money saved up for Christmas presents before September.
- Start Christmas shopping around the first of October.
- Not ask what everyone wants. I will be spontaneous in gift giving.
- Have a simple menu for Christmas lunch.
- Cook all that can be cooked the day before so that I will only have to warm up the food the next day.
- Wrap the presents before Christmas Eve.
- Make the handmade tags before Christmas Eve.
- Not be spastic on Christmas Day.
