Helpful Tip Saturday

Picture this — you are getting ready for that big night out on the town.  You pick up your favorite tube of lipstick and open it and it’s nearly flat on the tube.  ARGHHHHHHH!!! What are you going to do?  Use it that last time and throw it away?

Here’s some helpful tips to get the most out of what is left in the tube below the rim.

1.  Keep that tube at home and use a lipstick brush to use up the rest of the tube below the rim. You could use a Q-tip but that might get a little fuzz in the lipstick.

2.  Use a clean pill compact and scoop out the lipstick with a clean orange cuticle stick into the pill compact. Smooth it out, kind of pressing it down into the pill compact, and now you can carry it again and use a lipstick brush to apply it.

3.  There are some that say you can scoop out the old lipstick and mix with other colors by melting them and then pour it back into the lipstick tube. I’m not keen on this idea.  Different lipsticks use different oils, waxes and pigments.  I’m not sure how the color and consistency of different brands of lipsticks would mix together.  Plus, it just sounds a little messy!!!

What are some of your ideas for getting the most out of that favorite tube of lipstick?  Leave us a comment and let us know!!!

  1. I have used the Q-Tip befre when I get low on a color I really love. It works well. Those are great tips! Thanks for sharing!
