Helpful Tip Saturday — Dryer Sheets
I don’t know about you, but I tend to look for multiple uses for the products I buy. One product that we regularly use that has multiple uses is dryer sheets. I love the way dryer sheets smell. They smell so fresh and make everything around them smell fresh.

Multiple Uses We’ve Found for Dryer Sheets
- The obvious one is in doing the laundry. Did you know that you can actually get more than one use in the dryer for a dryer sheet? I only reuse each one dryer sheet one time. Let us hear from you how many times you’ve used them again in the dryer.
- A dryer sheet placed in the bottom of the garbage can under the garbage bag will help eliminate garbage can odors. If you keep your garbage can in the pantry, then you can also place a dryer sheet on a shelf or tack one up in the pantry and it will help keep the pantry smelling fresh.
- Placing a dryer sheet in shoes will help take away some of the “stinky” shoe odor. It won’t take away all of the “stinky” odor but it will help. For really “stinky” shoes, you would need the odor control pads for shoes.
- A used dryer sheet can be used to dust off the front of the television or computer screen. It will help to keep the dust from resettling on the screens. Also, when you throw the dryer sheet away, it will help in the garbarge can as well.
- Dryer sheets are great to use in cars to help get smoke smells or other smells out of the car. Just place one under each seat and your car will start smelling fresh.
- If you are sanding an old piece of furniture, use a dryer sheet as a tack cloth. The dryer sheet will help get rid of the sawdust from the sanding.
- When storing luggage, place a dryer sheet in the suitcases to help keep them smelling fresh. When you are getting ready for a trip, you could also use a fresh or used dryer sheet and it will help keep your clothes smelling fresh on your trip.
These are just some of the ways that I’ve used dryer sheets. What are some ways that you have used or reused dryer sheets? Leave us a comment. We look forward to hearing from you. My favorite use for dryer sheets – defuse static electricity and stop your skirt from clinging to your stockings by rubbing a dryer sheet over your legs after you put your stockings on. No more clingy skirts
My husband hates all the dryer sheets I have all over the house, but they do come in handy. I have used them for all the items you listed, also, I keep them in the linen closet to keep the towels and sheets smelling good. My son’s teacher has us send in used sheets for the kids to use as eraser’s for their dry erase boards. Good tips
Great tips! I also put a dryer sheet in the bottom of the hamper. Helps to contol the stinky dirty clothes.
These are some really great ideas. Thank you for sharing them. Can you use ones that have already been int he dryer or do they have to be new?
These are some great tips! I have done the one with the dryer sheet in the drawer for freshness, it really does work!
I have nominated you for a “Life if Grand” Award. Please come to my site to collect it! Congratulations!
Thanks to everyone for all the great comments!!!
@Jodi — I would say that you could reuse dryer sheets. The only time that I would think that they would not be as effective is if their “fresh” smell is not as strong as when they first come out of the box.
@Chameleon — I love this tip about rubbing the dryer sheet over your legs after putting on panty hose. No clingy skirts or slacks.
@Stacy — Love the tip about using them for the dry erase boards. Also, having them stashed all over the house makes for quick dusting.
@Jodi — Thanks for the great tip about the hamper!!! It definitely helps to already de-stink (is that a word?) the dirty laundry before taking it to the washer!!!
@Lilysgramma — I am honored to awarded the “Life is Grand” Award. I will be sure to get my “Life is Grand” list posted in the next few days!!!
I love tips–it’s always fun to read new ones for some reason! But my hubby too hates those sheets so it’s hard for me to use them.
