Helpful Tip Saturday — The Great Mismatched Sock Dilemma

Have you ever put in a load of laundry with socks in it to wash only to find that when you pull the clean laundry out of the dryer that you now have missing socks?

If you are like me, you just thrown them in the drawer and hope the mate reappears some time.  Most of the time the mate never is found, so now you have a drawer full of mismatched socks.

What do you do with those mismatched socks?

There are some good uses for those old socks.

  1. Use them as dust rags.
  2. Polish shoes with them.
  3. Clean your car dashboards with them.
  4. Cut them up in 1 inch wide strips and use them in the garden to tie up tomato plants.  (Old pantyhose works great for this too!)
  5. Use them to cover the legs of furniture when you are pushing it over the floor.
  6. Make bean bags out of them.
  7. Make sock toys out of them.

Can you think of anymore old mismatched sock uses?  We’d love to hear from you.  Please leave us a comment about what you do with your old mismatched socks!!!

Till next time,
JT Locke

My mom always tied our socks together.

You can put some rice in an extra sock, tie the end, toss it in the microwave for an instant heating pad. Amazing, but the rice holds heat for quite some time and rolls around in the sock so it is easy to apply. I have used this method many times/

I love the heating pad idea :)

I cut old socks open and use them for general purpose cleaning rags . . . they are great for everything!
