For tonight’s Frugal Pantry Tuesday, I’m going to do something different and ask the question – What is the worst leftover meal that you have ever made?

The worst leftover meal I ever made was made out of some ground sirloin. I was going to make a “Cowboy Stew” and when I looked in the pantry I didn’t have any kidney beans. I did have some pinto beans that were left over from the night before so I decided to use them and I just started pulling cans out and opening them. I ended up using the ground beef, the beans, corn, tomatoes, macaroni, cheese, tomato soup and water. This is just what I can remember…. I know that there were more canned goods opened and thrown in the mix. I remember my hubby asking why I was using so many cans.
It would sound like an interesting chili mac. The more water I added to it, the more it seemed to grow and the worse it got. It had to be using the pinto beans instead of the kidney beans. The amount of cheese that I used could have had something to do with it. I did use quite a bit of cheese. Finally I started adding seasoning to it but it didn’t mask the taste. Nothing blended together.
My hubby knew something was the matter when as I was handing him a bowl said, “Now honey, you don’t have to eat it if you don’t like it.” He did manage to eat one bowl. By this time, it had grown to fill nearly the entire Dutch oven pot I was using. Needless to say, we didn’t have it for leftovers the next night.
The worst dessert I ever made was a homemade chocolate cake. I misread the recipe and instead of using 1/2 cups of cocoa for the frosting I used 2 1/2 cups of cocoa. It was a bit strong.
What is the worst leftover meal you’ve ever made? Leave us a comment. We’d love to hear from you!!!
Till next time,

I was rushed for work and wanted to make a lunch to bring. I grabbed some leftovers from the fridge and a can of tuna and mixed it up together. This consisted of Tuna, Eggs and Rice.
My colleague who shared the same office space as me, couldn’t stop commenting on how disgusting it was. It didn’t taste bad, but I guess I should have thought of the smell.
it would be a toss up between:
- the time i decided to use a mushy bana in my instant oatmeal, but added country ham grits instead. i tried to spice it up but it was inedible. anyone hungry for taco/banana flavored grits?
- the pasta salad i made using leftover mac-n-cheese. in my defense, i was pregnant and it was delicious, although the rest of the family thought i was trying to poison them.
On Tuesday I made macaroni and cheese from a new recipe. It called for a pinch of nutmeg but I misread it and put in a teaspoon! It didn’t taste so good.
