Friday Frustrations

ConversationsWithMoms:Every day Conversations with a Mom Blog

For most of the day today, I have not been frustrated.

Wednesday and Thursday was another story. I had ordered a new router from a certain “big” computer company in Round Rock, Texas and the order was totally messed up. The router’s box was not wrapped in plastic wrap and that was my first clue that something was wrong. When I took the router out of the box, there was no paper work in box or installation disk. Then when I turned the router over, there was no sticker with the serial numbers on it on the bottom of the unit.

So I got on the phone with the “big” computer company in Round Rock, Texas and got their overseas customer service that totally did not understand my somewhat southern/Texas drawl. They kept trying to tell me that it was under warranty and I’d have to call the manufacturer, which I did. I was also hung up on two times by the overseas customer service. The manufacturer was going to make it right. Then I got the brilliant idea to plug it in and see if it even worked. The power cord was not even the correct power cord. So the frustrations sets in again and I get back on the phone with the “big” computer company in Round Rock, Texas. Finally I got someone who understood and send me the necessary paperwork via email to send the unit back to the “big” computer company in Round Rock, Texas.

Oh how I was wishing for a Wednesday Frustrations but instead it was Wordless Wednesday. The only frustration today in connection with the router was when I was setting up the new, plastic wrapped router that I went to the local “superstore” and bought. It looked for a little while like it was not going to “talk” to my modem. But finally they decided they liked each other and here I am on the internet.

Then tonight, I start dropping my usual drops on a certain site that I am not going to name but that has been having some major probs recently. I find out that there is a list, that is sounding alot like a new “drop list”, of “dropper friendly” “no paid ads” going around. I will tell you now that The Frugal Housewife will not be on that list. I accept “paid ads” on my site. Now, let me make it clear that I do not accept all “paid ads.”

To say the least I am somewhat frustrated by all this. To me, it seems that it is just keeping an issue going. It also seems that it is creating a “blacklist” of those who accept “paid ads”. There are several sites that I enjoyed visiting and “dropping” on that according to what I have read will probably not be dropping by my site anymore because I accept “paid ads” and will continue to do so. It is also frustrating that because I accept “paid ads” that sites like mine have been deemed “unfriendly to droppers”. Hmmmm, that would be totally wrong. I have always tried to reciprocate “drops” and I have firmly believed in their right to do what they deem necessary in these “drop wars.” I have even visited some of these sites when they were not visiting mine.

So just to make my stand clear on this matter: I believe that the certain site that changed the way they do business has the right to do that…it’s their site. I don’t own it and the people in protest don’t own it. I believe that the “300″ list has a right to make that list. I do not believe that it is fair to label those of us who accept “paid ads” as “unfriendly to droppers”.

I work hard to drop the limit each night. I do not pay cash for ads on that site. I will not be cashing out my credits because I am not comfortable giving them my SS#. I believe it is my right to accept “paid ads” on my site just as it is their right to not accept them. I use my credits on that certain site to run ads on that site, several of which have run on the “lists” blogs.

Ok…now I feel better…having got my frustration out…this is the last post that I will make about this certain situation. I can go back to writing more posts on subject for my blogs. This little “list” matter is not going to dominate my thoughts or my blogs.

Till next time,

  2. I hadn’t noticed yesterday that you did a Friday Frustration. Sorry.

I too accept paid ads, but not all of them. I think that people have the right to do what they want with their blog but discriminate against the decisions that other people if it differs from their own.

This Paid, Unpaid ads hopefully will eventually die out. I just want to enjoy visiting all the blogs that I have and continue to do so without feeling like I’m “bad” for choosing to accept paid ads.

I even have some money in the advertising budget that I use from time to time to test my ad. I’ve gotten a lot of traffic from it too.

I agree with your frustrations and than you for joining in my meme.
