Did you know that charges can be added to your cell phone bill that you did not authorize? They can!!!
Text notification #38146 is one of these messages. I have just spent 20 minutes on the phone about one of these messages from this number. They have been charging my cell phone bill $9.99 for the past two months.
The great news is that if you call your cell phone’s customer service and tell them that you do not know these people and did not authorize the charge, they will back the charge out and give you credit. They also will put a block on the text notification number so that you will not receive it anymore.
When I asked the customer service rep how this could be charged to my cell phone, he explained that spammers (actually scammers) send out text messages to cell phones. If you open the spam text message, the spammers take it to mean that you are authorizing them to charge to your cell phone and notify your cell phone company.
My question is — if the cell phone companies know that is what these people are doing then why don’t they do something to stop them?
Till next time,
