Lessons Learned From This Thanksgiving Dinner
Every year I say the same thing — I’m going to downsize the meal. Most of the kids have multiple dinners that they have to go to and we are cutting back, yes…sort of dieting. What is bringing all this on? I started cleaning out the fridge today.
So what are some lessons learned?
1. Make sure to find some turkey recipes. I’ve thrown out way too much turkey. Sure it cut back on the amount of cat food I had to buy and the cats are thinking that they are being treated royally to “real” food, but I’d rather make another dish for humans out of it instead of cat food.
2. Make more deviled eggs next year. They were good and we nearly ran out.
3. Buy a still smaller cast iron skillet to make a small pan of cornbread for the dressing. I made a smaller dish this year but hubby doesn’t like leftovers so I ended up throwing out more than I wanted.
4. Continue to cook several dishes the night before. It helped a lot this year and everything seemed to come together better and I was able to enjoy company more.
What are some things that you learned from this year’s Thanksgiving that you would do different next year?
Till next time,

Since I do not celebrate Thanksgiving, I am not able to share on what I had learned. However, I like the idea of downsizing the meal especially during festive seasons since we tend to overeat.
Thanks for sharing what you learned. I’m sure I can use them during parties, too.
My family is not so big so Thanksgiving is always a small affair for us. The best part of Thanksgiving for me is I get to sleepover at my aunts house, but what I don’t like is the rush to get prepared just a few days before the day. So, prepare at least one week before.
Right now I’m on vacation just trying to de-stress from the Thanksgiving binge lol.
I probably am going to need a vacation after the Christmas binge! I’m hoping that my preparation for the Christmas dinner is going to be as smooth as it was for the Thanksgiving dinner! I’m already on the lookout for some recipes for the leftovers!
