You’ve Been Told to Stop Calling….
“You’ve been told to stop calling here. What part of “Stop Calling” did you not understand?” This is what the person from Dell Warranty was told (along with a lot more) today when they called for what seemed to be the hundredth time.
Recently, my husband and I purchased a Dell laptop for my daughter who is opening a photography studio. We viewed it as an investment in her future business. I went through the questions when I purchased the computer as to what it was going to be used for, who was going to use it, and if it was going to be taken out of the country. I’ve received the mailings for the extended warranty. I’ve told the telemarketers on the phone that if I want to purchase the extended warranty I’ll purchase it through the mailers or will call Dell directly to take it. Now they keep on calling and calling.
So today they called and they started asking the same questions that I’ve already answered several times before. Today they just happened to catch me after I had been reading some comments on a forum that I have/had been following in which a blogger wondered if me and another blogger might be “gaming the site’s system. “ The blogger didn’t call us by name but by our town and dates that we had visited and referred to us as “Ghost Droppers”. I knew I was one of the ones that he was referring to because while my town is mid-sized, I’m the only one that I’ve seen on the forum from my town and I’ve been following this blogger’s blog for a while now and knew I had been on his site on those dates that he’s wondering about. I even remember visiting and reading different posts on his site those days. Now I’m not exactly sure what “Ghost Droppers” (that didn’t upset me as much) and “Gaming the system” was supposed to mean but it didn’t sound good and it highly TICKED me off and the telemarketer received the wrath of my ire. This time I think the telemarketer understood exactly what “DO NOT CALL HERE ANYMORE!” meant because they got an earful.
Now back to this comment about “Gaming a system”. If you are that person who made that comment on the forum and you are visiting here, I can assure you and everyone reading this… I don’t “game a system” and I highly resent the fact that anyone would even think that I might and I took it as a stab at my integrity. I am a Christian and have even gone so far as to sign Blogger Integrity to insure my commitment to my blogging and I believe in doing every thing above board and within the realms of what the rules and standards are for any forum or exchange that I sign up for and use.
I am not making any rash decisions about how this is going to affect my participation in this particular forum or any forum and do not believe in calling the forum or the blogger out by name. I will need a cooling off period because to be quite honest — the more I think about it the madder I get. My husband doesn’t understand why I’m so mad. I’ve tried to explain it’s my integrity that has been commented on and I take that very seriously and while it was only my town that was mentioned, I knew it was referencing me and even though I probably was the only one that knew I still deem it as questioning my integrity. I can tell you — I won’t be visiting any of that blogger’s blogs for a bit. I’m not sure how long…but it will be a while.
I know this is not the planned topic which was going to be on recipes using green chiles. A little later today I may go ahead and publish another post on that topic. If not, I’ll publish two tomorrow. Please if you have not signed up for the El Paso Chile Giveaway, you have one more day. Please sign up at this link — Old El Paso Giveaway.
Till next time,

I’m sorry to hear of your recent forum problems. I don’t know the forum you are talking of but I do know that comments made on forums and groups can really sting. Getting upset is perfectly natural. I hope it settles down for you. Dealing with type of adversary is not fun.
When it comes to telemarketers you might want to check into changing your phones. Panasonic has a nice 3 piece cordless set that lets you block out numbers you don’t want calling. We only paid $60 for the set and because it provides everything the phone company provides except call id which you still have to subscribe to we are saving $30 per month by stripping the phone company services and using those built into the phone. It might be something both you and your readers would be interested in.

I’ve read the post of that blogger in the Forum and your comment. I understand your reaction why you get a little mad, but don’t let that blogger ruin your day or influence your mood. In the blogosphere there are many nice and wonderful bloggers and there are also a few who are loud and aggressive and judgmental, but that’s life. Just continue what you are doing, be yourself and don’t let others rain on your parade. Cheers!
People who accuse others of wrong doing are often the very ones up to their own necks in it. I hope you don’t let your feelings about this affect how you feel about the forum. The person you are posting about is only a user of the forum. I read that post too.
I want to say “Thanks” for all the comments of support that I’ve received in regards to the forum issue. In my post, I said that I don’t believe in calling the poster out or the forum on which the comment was made which means I won’t approve comments that call the forum or poster out by name. I have received a comment from the person who made the post attempting to give an explanation/apology for the comment. I appreciate the poster taking the time to try and explain.
I’ve decided to that I’m not going to allow this person or any other person disrupt my blogging or my marketing of my blog. It is full steam ahead with my plans for this blog and my other blogs for 2010.
I will continue to stand up for my beliefs, my integrity as a blogger and as a person. I will also continue to visit the forum and comment as I feel is necessary.
Again, THANKS to everyone for your support.
Oh and by the way, the telemarketer from Dell did get the hint with the last call and I am happy to report that they are not calling anymore.
