Finding Joy While Playing in the Kitchen after visiting Momfever’s blog.  There is a slight break in the blog hop!!!

Vacuum!!!  You gave me a vacuum for Valentine’s Day?!!!  Yes it’s happened to me before!!!   My first husband thought it was a really good idea!!! Let me tell you –Guys, contrary to what you may be thinking — it’s really not a good idea to give a vacuum cleaner for Valentine’s Day! It’s not romantic!   It’s not something that every woman wants for Valentine’s Day!  Just to be on the safe side — we’ll change it to NO HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES FOR VALENTINE’S DAY!

Why?

We want ROMANCE!  We want PAMPERING!  We want to know we are LOVED AND APPRECIATED! We don’t want to be reminded that we CLEAN, ORGANIZE, MANAGE, AND DID I ALREADY SAY CLEAN?  We don’t necessarily want anything that’s going to break the bank!  Just something simple that says I LOVE YOU!

Some Valentine’s Day gift ideas are:

1.   Breakfast in bed.

2.  A basket of bubble bath.

3.  A nice bouquet of flowers.  Even the ones from the florist shop at Wally World would do!

3.  A box of favorite chocolates and a nice sentimental card.

4.  Dinner for just the two of you.

5.  A nice walk along the lake, talking about only what she wants to talk about!

6.  An afternoon of chick flicks.

These are just a few ideas!  Remember NO APPLIANCES, INCLUDING VACUUM CLEANERS!  But honey, if you are reading this, a Wii would be nice!  Why?  Because I’d know you were listening to me when I was going through my list of what I’m wanting for my birthday (it’s this Saturday!) and Valentine’s!  That means more than anything!

Girls, if you want to give him a subtle hint of what you want for Valentine’s Day, just send him to my blog and make him read it! Oh yeah, the Frugal Hubby wanted to me make sure and include that guys like to know they are special too!  They don’t necessarily want  power tools for Valentines.  He also said that they like to be pampered too!

THE LET ME CALL YOU SWEETHEART BLOG HOP!

As you may know it’s the LET ME CALL YOU SWEETHEART BLOG HOP!!!

The master list is:

If you get lost along the way, please check back here for the rest of the blog hop!

  1. Hoppin by to say I totally agree! NO appliances or hand tools for Valentines Gifts. How can a vacuum or skill saw say “You are the best and I love you!”?

  2. No lie! I’d be better getting nothing than a household appliance! Happy blog hop day!

  3. Help. I can’t find a link to my site from the one before me. That kind of puts a stop to all of us from there on unless we go back to your site and click on each link individually.

  4. I love each gift from my husband, even my vacuum. I’ve gotten cookware, a microwave, free laptop repair, a new radio for my car—pretty much anything that makes my life easier. I think we are too hard on the guys sometimes when it comes to gifts. I just like that he is thinking of me and takes the time to buy me stuff.

Anyway,I came to your blog to follow you from the MBC blog follow group. I didn’t see a Google Connect or anything,so I decided to leave a comment.

I hope you get exactly what you want for Valentine’s Day!

  5. I apologize for the break in the blog hop. This happens occasionally. I’ve put a note up on my blog hop post with a link asking everyone to go to your blog. I’m not sure what happened with the blogger who was before you. The email did not bounce back to me showing a failure to go through to the blogger. Again, please accept my apologies.

  6. Erica,

Thanks for stopping by! That’s what makes blogging so great. We each can have our own opinions and our own experiences. I’m thankful for each present I get from my hubby but I don’t want appliances or vacuums. I’ve also come to learn that most women don’t want those kinds of things bought for them. I am getting what I want for my birthday and Valentines (they are 8 days apart so they get rolled into one). We couldn’t afford to buy the Wii but I am getting taken out to Red Lobster.

I’m not signed up for Google Connect but I am on Facebook and Twitter. Thanks for leaving the comment.

And I, too, hope you get exactly what you want for Valentine’s Day, whether it’s an appliance or something else.

Thanks again and I hope you’ll visit again!

  7. Happy blog hop day to you too!

  8. I really enjoyed this blog hop! Thank you so much for hosting it!

    And you’re right…no appliances :P I’d rather just have a homemade card :)

And YES….the Wii is awesome!! After playing with the kids on it..I feel like I went to the gym for an hour! Its a great work-out!

    Have a great night :)

  9. Hey Shelley! I’m glad you enjoyed the blog hop! I’m afraid some may have taken the vacuum cleaner post in a negative way! It was meant in fun and was a totally different kind of post for me! Probably will put something like that at the top of the post.

Wanted to let you know that I am going to also retweet the posts. May not get to all of them tonight. I’ve had a hard day with computers. Computers at work were infected with viruses and I’ve spent the whole day cleaning computers. Then I was kinda “paranoid” for lack of a better word and came home and ran scans on all my computers at home.

Thanks again and I hope you will sign up for the Easter Blog Hop!

  10. I hate to say it, but I think it’s safer for my DH to buy me an appliance than anything else, LOL No, seriously, he loves shopping at places like Bath & Body – I practically loose the guy in that store, he’s enjoying it so much. lol

  11. Sorry my post is so late tonight. I’ve been driving all day to Blissdom and now finally got my post published before climbing in my hotel bed. I plan to go around and comment on everyone’s posts tomorrow or Sunday. Thanks for letting me take part!

  12. “Vacuum!!! You gave me a vacuum for Valentine’s Day?!!! Yes it’s happened to me before!!! My first husband thought it was a really good idea!!! ”

    Hence the first husband bit.

Last year for my birthday I WANTED a vacuum ( also happened to be mother’s day) and I got ZIP! Man it took some work to stop the divorce after that day ;)

Anyway a hopping I will go.

  13. No problem! I so wanted to go to Blissdom!!! Have a great time!

  14. My hubby gave a thrift shop gift card for xmas. Nothing says “You’re special” like a thrift shop gift card.

  15. I have to make a comment on the vacuum. One year my “x” told me he didn’t have the money to buy a birthday present for me. He actually called me at work to tell me this so I wouldn’t wait around all day expecting a present. When I got home he handed me a card and gave me a kiss and said he was sorry but he would make it up to me. Sitting on the table was a radio control air plane kit. Those things are expensive! Guess he didn’t have the money to buy me a birthday present. Did I mention that he is my “x”?

  16. I think you hit the nail on the head that the key is listening! Hubby and I did get each other a Dyson vacuum for our wedding anniversary, and we still both love it :)
Apparently I could learn from the suggestion tips too and get something I may enjoy relaxing with a bit more!

  17. That’s like your husband is telling you to go work and clean the house haha

  18. Do I have the only wife in the world who actually wanted and loved the vacuum I got her?

We had battery powered Dustbusters which didn’t have good suction and whose batteries always died, one after the next. The Mrs was seriously angry about this. I found a handheld with a long cord, a Shark. She was happier that I spent the time and effort to find this than anything else I could have done.

It’s all about knowing someone well enough to know what “not” to get them, I suppose.
    Joe

  19. I don’t remember what my first husband got me for our first Valentines Day together but I do know he got me an iron for our first Christmas. We are divorced now. I gave my second husband a daughter on Valentines Day. He got me nothing. We are divorced now too.

  20. Hey Joe! I think you are right — it’s all about knowing someone well enough to know what “not” to get them.

  21. My first husband had a rather cruel demeanor. His gifts were always pointed. He would also buy me clothes about 2 sizes too big to let me know that I was gaining weight. He would also send me flowers when he got interested in new women. That’s why he is no longer my husband. I’m fortunate to have found a new hubby who is very sensitive and understanding.

  22. And today’s gift to the woman I love was a new trash basket for under the kitchen sink. She hated the old one, old and cracked, and the space was tight. I went to 6 different stores with tape measure in hand to find the perfect one. I printed a To Jane/ Love Joe (these are not our real names but she knows that’s how I refer to her on my blog) she read it and told me how sweet I was.
She and my daughter got me a set of rubs (spices for BBQ) as I am the cook in the house.
For the record, we had our 15th wedding anniversary a few months ago and knew each other ten years before that. My running joke is “I’ll just be happy when she stops referring to me as her ‘first husband.’”

    Joe

  23. Haha,,, that was funny.. A vacuum cleaner for valentines? I would never thought of that… There was a time that I had given a household appliance before for a bday gift-not for Valentines….
