What Twitter List Are You On?
Have you checked your Twitter account lately? If you are like me you use a Twitter client such as Tweet Deck, Hootsuite or one of the many that are available and don’t actually go to Twitter.com. I had never thought to check the Twitter lists on the Twitter site until the other day when I was visiting a forum and one member referred to the fact that one individual and her friends had already talked on Twitter several days ago about the subject that was being discussed. How did this person know this? That’s when I remembered the Twitter lists.
Now while I’m a becoming more of a Tweeter (check out the posts on the Frugal Retweet Club), I had never paid too much attention to the lists that your Twitter account can be added to and was surprised when I logged onto my account at Twitter.com and looked at the lists that are following me. I found out that there were some big companies actually following my tweets. How cool is that!
What do you do if you are on a list that you don’t want to be on? Go to the profile that put you on the list and block them. They won’t be able to follow you or put you on lists anymore. I’ve had to do that to a couple tweeters. They were spammy tweeters and I didn’t want to be on their lists.
Go check your Twitter account and see what lists you are on. Leave us a comment about what you find out and if you had to block any “Spam” Tweeters.

Last time I looked I was actually on 170+ lists on twitter… most of them being craft type lists I think that I was automatically listed in when I started joining lists on twibes.com…. so far I haven’t been on any spam type lists yet. I guess that’s a good thing.
Hmmm… I’ve just had a quick count. I’m on 6 photography lists, 4 blogging lists and 9 random lists!

I just checked my list and I have 4 people following me. They appear to be blogs. I don’t use twitter a lot but I guess I should try to get on it more and start paying attention to the lists. I have given you a blog award which you can check out on my blog when you get a chance!

I haven’t check that out for a while. Had to delete some. why is it the Nasty sites want to follow me? maybe I need to change my photo to my picture of me. Well I will be checking more often, thanks.

Well, as a spanking-new tweeter, I believe I’m on 6 lists.
When I checked my twitter account I noted that I am on 2 lists. I’ll be following you on twitter.
Twitter is not just good for connecting with others. It’s also good for high quality back links to your main site. If you continually tweet your blog posts and retweet others, eventually your twitter page will have a high google PR. In fact I’ve seen my twitter accounts have a higher PR than the actual main site. So even if you don’t use twitter for connections you should be at least using something like tweetable or something similar to automatically post your blog posts to twitter. It can only help your site ranking in the long run.
