There’s been a little of this and a little of that happening in The Frugal Housewife’s world…
1. The Frugal Housewife has taken a second job. I’m now doing freelance writing for Demand Studio. I’ve been enjoying writing the how-to’s and I had already written some for E-How. They pay promptly and so far I haven’t had very many re-writes. We’ve decided that in order to get more things paid off that we need to increase our income since we don’t seem to be successful in cutting down on expenses.
2. The office/craft room has been re-done and has bright colors which feed my creativity both in writing and the crafts that I’m going to start making.
3. Sewing has re-entered our lives. Several years ago I sewed for people. I made cute little vests and dresses for little girls and sold them. My little girl always had cute shorts and jumpers to wear. Then life entered into the picture — my little girl grew up and my first husband and I got divorced and I lost interest in sewing. Yes, I will be sewing again making accessories. I plan on making a laptop bag in some Vera Bradley like material for myself. I’ll post a picture as soon I get it done. Hopefully, we’ll be getting out Etsy shop going with jewelry and handmade accessories.
4. The sewing and crafts naturally has sparked an interest in getting my crafting blog up and going again. Not sure where that will fall on the list of to-do’s but we’ll see.
5. Blogging is still alive and well. I may not have made many posts in the last couple of weeks but sometimes you just have to take the time to do the other things. Last Friday I didn’t touch the computer for about 10 hours. It was a record for me — I didn’t even check the Blackberry to see if I had messages or emails because I was so determined to get the office done.
It’s been busy around here but it’s been worth it. What’s been going on with all you? Leave us a comment and let us know!
Till next time,
JT Locke

I write for Demand Studios and have mixed feelings about them. I have only had to do one re-write and it got lost in the shuffle so now I have to start over. I’m not fond of their topics but the writing is easy, they pay well and they pay twice a week. It’s not particularly creative or even skilled but it’s an easy way to make some money.
The topics are kind of well….varied. And you are right the writing is easy and not particularly creative or skilled. It is writing, however, and it is easy money and it keeps me from having to go get another job outside my home.
Great update. What is Demand Studio? Do you also get paid for the e-how articles? I have written for e-how in the past but I saw they changed ownership and was wondering if they now pay for the articles? Thanks!
Demand Studios is the company who bought e-How. They pay regularly on Tuesday and Friday. So far the pay has been in my Paypal. I’ll do an update post soon!
Do you have any samples of the articles you’ve written for Demand Studio? I’m interested in doing this, but I haven’t had a resume in over 15 years (SAHM blogger here) and I wonder exactly what sort of stuff we’re talking about and roughly how much cash can be made.
Are there enough opportunities each month to make at least $100 or even $50? I know. Something is better than nothing. What sort of “expert” do you need to be to write these articles? If you’re not an expert can you research enough online to be able to write the article? And is there a minimum amount you have to earn before they’ll pay out?
For example, Google Adwords won’t pay until you hit $100; BlogHer Ads pays out at $25.
