CVS is a great place to shop and combine coupons with the sales and Extra Care bucks. Be sure to check out this week’s sales circular. There are some really good buys. We are still learning all about combining the sales with the coupons and Extra Care Bucks, but we have learned if a little time is taken before the trip to look over the circular and make a list and stick to it then we can save some money. One thing we do on our list is that we write down the item then we write down on the list how we are going to use that item to get the best “bang for our buck!”
For example, we are going to split our purchases into two tickets. It may seem like it’s not really worth doing it that way but it is.
The 3-in-1 Purex Complete Laundry Sheets are on sale at our store for $5.99 and you get back $2.00 in Extra Care Bucks. There is a 1 item limit on this per trip. There was a $3.00 coupon in the Sunday paper, so we’ll use that — bringing the Laundry Sheets down to $2.99 plus tax. Not to bad but there’s one more purchase we are going to make…. Milk is on sale for $2.99 and you get $1.00 back in Extra Care Bucks, so we are going to use the $2.00 Extra Care buck from the previous purchase and get the milk for $.99 and we will still have a $1.00 Extra Care Buck for a later purchase.
The total of the two purchases = $3.98. If we didn’t split the purchases and use the bucks in the second purchase, the total of the trip would come to $5.98. We saved $2.00. Now that may not seem like a lot but when you are trying to start being frugal and learn to use coupons and Extra Care Bucks, it’s a big accomplishment. Remember — baby steps lead to big steps or in other words — learning how to save small leads to learning how to save big!
