Couponing has a language all its own.  Understanding the lingo can help you create a grocery list that will help you save money on your groceries.                      

COUPONING LINGO

  • $1/2 = $1 off 2 items
  • 2/$1 = 2 items for $1
  • AC =After Coupon
  • AR = After Rebate
  • B1G1 =Buy one get one
  • B2G1 = Buy two get one
  • Blinkies = The machines at the store that are usually red and have a little “blinking” light to get your attention.  It  holds coupons you can take to use on this shopping trip.
  • BOGO = Buy one get one
  • BTFE = Box Tops for Education
  • Cat = Catalina = Coupons that print at the register after your purchase is completed.  They can be used on the next purchase.
  • CRT = Cash Register Tape
  • DND = Do not double
  • ECB = Extra Care Bucks (coupon that prints at the end of your transaction that can be used on future purchase at CVS)
  • ETS = Exclude trial size
  • Filler = Item you buy to get your purchase up to a certain amount in order to get an offered discount
  • Hangtags =Coupons Hanging from shelf by an item or in front of item
  • Mfr = Manufacturer’s coupon
  • MIR =Mail in rebate
  • OOP = Out of Pocket expense
  • Peelies = Coupons on packages that you can peel off to use on this shopping trip.
  • PG = Procter and Gamble coupon insert in Sunday newspaper
  • Printable  = An online coupon that you can print.  Printables usually can be printed twice.
  • Q = Coupon
  • RP = RedPlum coupon insert in the Sunday newspaper
  • RR = Register Rewards are available at Walgreens.  They are printed with the receipt and can be used on future purchases.
  • SS = Smart Source Coupon insert in the Sunday newspaper
  • Stacking = Using a manufacturer’s coupon with a store coupon.
  • Tear pad = A pad of rebate forms or coupons attached to a store shelf
  • Wags =  Walgreens
