AFFILIATE DISCLAIMER

The Frugal Housewife is funded by advertisements and affiliate relationships.   We have always given our honest opinion about any products that we have recommended to you, whether we are paid for our opinion or not.  If we find a product or service that we feel will be beneficial to you, we will let you know about it either through a blog post or on our social media accounts.  And it works the other way, too. If we find a product that we do not feel is worth your time and money, we will tell you.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AN AFFILIATE?

Companies often have what they call “affiliate programs”. These programs work with influencers who market their products on blogs, YouTube, Social Media, and through email. The influencers are paid a commission on the products that they sell.

EXAMPLES OF OUR AFFILIATE RELATIONSHIPS

We participate in several affiliate programs. Some examples of our Affiliate relationships are Amazon, Coupons.com, Chewy.com, Puffy Mattress, Freshbooks, Fredericksburg Farms, and Cratejoy.  Each of these companies offers products and services that we use and love to recommend to you.

WHY DO WE NEED TO LET YOU KNOW ABOUT OUR AFFILIATE RELATIONSHIPS?

We need to let you know about our affiliate relationships because sometime around 2009, the FTC decided that websites (including blogs) needed to disclose whether there is a financial interest in the recommendations that they make.

We want to be open and transparent with you, our readers, therefore we would still disclose this information whether there was a rule by the FTC or not.

HOW WE DISCLOSE OUR AFFILIATE RELATIONSHIPS IN A POST OR ON SOCIAL MEDIA

We will make a “DISCLAIMER” on any post promoting a good or service. It will usually be located at the very beginning of the post.

The disclaimer will usually be found under the title of the post but sometimes it may also be found just after the first paragraph.

An example of a recent disclaimer that was featured on our Amora Coffee post looked like this and was found at the beginning of the post.

DISCLAIMER: THIS POST ALSO CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS WHICH PAYS ME MONETARILY WHEN YOU USE OUR LINKS TO MAKE A PURCHASE AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO YOU. FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE SEE OUR AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE.

Here’s our full affiliate disclaimer policy!

Affiliate Links

You, the visitor or customer, should assume that any and all links on this site, The Frugal Housewife, are affiliate links. If you click on any of these links and go visit the resulting site, a cookie will be set in your web browser that will cause us to receive a commission “IF” you purchase a product on the other end. This is a legitimate way to monetize and pay for the operation of web sites and we gladly reveal our affiliate relationships to you.

Shortened or Cloaked Links

In addition we fully disclose that hyperlinks on this site are in some cases shortened, and in some cases cloaked to hide long ugly links for functionality and tracking purposes. We have nothing to hide and we are proud of our relationship with the fine vendors, products and services found on this site. Link tracking, shortening and cloaking is a very common practice on all types of web sites.

Compensation for Links

We sometimes receive physical products or cash directly in exchange for any reviews or posts you find on this site. We are paid to do reviews or posts. We have to tell you that we are not influenced by the product or payment for the review that we write.  If we do not like the product or think it is a mediocre product then we will tell you.  By the same token, if we love the product we will tell you.  We do not believe this presents a conflict of interest.  But you, the visitor or customer, must decide by considering the affiliate relationships and link techniques we have described. Obviously we would like you to buy the service or products we write about and only try to feature products/coupons that we really love and trust.  We strive to always give our honest opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences on topics or products we write about and promote.

Third-party vendors may also pay to place advertising on our sites in the form of banners, widgets, and hyperlinks. These are paid advertisements and while we do our best to only allow quality products and services to be advertised on our site, we are not responsible for claims or testimonials made on paid advertising links.
