How to Save Money on Makeup

I love makeup! Dressing up and using makeup to look my best just adds a little extra pep to my step. But makeup can be so expensive and I want to save money on it! In our journey to lead a frugal lifestyle, I had to make a decision whether I wanted to sacrifice makeup all together or figure out a way to still get a good brand that provides good coverage without breaking the bank! Here are the three steps I take to save money on makeup and still get great makeup! Really, you could apply these steps to anything that you want to buy.
Step 1: Do some price comparisons on the makeup you want to buy.
You aren’t going to know if you are getting a good deal on your makeup if you do not know how much it sells for at the different stores. This is a given for any item you purchase, not just makeup. You don’t have to drive to each store. Most stores now have online stores that you can check prices with and if they don’t then just call the store and ask.
Once you know the price that you are willing to pay, you can move to step 2.
Step 2: Check the sales circulars for the stores.
Some store websites offer early previews for next week’s ads. If the store you want to shop at doesn’t then just do a web search. There are several websites that offer a preview of the sales circulars for the next week. Just Google them for phrases like “sales previews”, “next week’s sales”, “next week’s ads”, or “ad previews”. You’ll get a huge list of sites that offer previews.
You are now ready for Step 3!
Step 3: Match the sales with any coupons, promo codes or discounts that are available.
There are a lot of coupon matchup sites on the internet. They take the sales circulars and find the coupons, discounts, or promo codes to go with the sale. Using coupons with a sale optimizes your savings and frees up money for you to use somewhere else.
Most grocery coupons sites will allow you to print three (3) coupons per sheet. We found this list of coupons, Hot Beauty Coupons, Print Today and chose to print them all before we did any comparison shopping or coupon matching. Yeah – sometimes I get carried away and do the steps out of order because once the coupons hit their print limit they are not available any more unless the manufacturer decides to increase the print limit! So if you think you might want these coupons, go ahead and print them now!
That’s how I save money on my purchases!
There you have it my dear readers! This is how I save money. It works for me! When I am on a couponing roll, I can save somewhere between 30% and 50% (sometimes more) off any item not just makeup!
It’s easy to do and plus you get some great products at great prices. These steps shouldn’t take hours to do. If it does then take a step back and readjust your starting price point. Remember to KEEP IT SIMPLE and save time! Try these steps and let me know what you think!
